The environmental and engineering studies have not been funded. Railroad and city officials are going to seek federal funding. If the funds are granted, it could take a couple of years before construction could begin.
Moving the tracks south of 11th St., would result in eliminating a number of cross streets. Less costly, but causes school bus route issues. Not a popular choice for school officials. But, is the choice for the South Shore folks. More costly, because moving the tracks to the northern route, involves bridge work along Trail Creek. This choice seems to be popular with some of the influential citizens of the community.
This project does not appear to be on any fast track.
